A massive wildfire on the Croatian island of Brač has burned between 3,000 and 3,500 hectares of land, including pine forests and scrubland. The fire, which intensified during a night of strong winds, threatened the coastal town of Milna and nearby tourist complexes such as Gava.

Large-scale evacuation efforts were coordinated by the National Maritime Search and Rescue Coordination Centre in Rijeka and the Split Port Authority. Approximately 500 people were evacuated by tourist boats, while 185 others were transported by rescue vessels. Other reports indicate hundreds of residents and tourists sought refuge along the coast and by sea to escape the advancing flames.

Emergency responders, including over 200 firefighters and several Canadair aircraft, worked to defend residential areas and tourist facilities. While many buildings were protected, some structures, including parts of the Gava complex, sustained material damage. Two people sustained injuries; one 76-year-old woman was reported in critical condition after a fall during the evacuation process.
