Braća Radić Elementary School clears most taps of lead contamination
Following reports of lead presence in the water supply at Braća Radić Elementary School in Koprivnica, new testing results indicate that five out of six problematic taps are now safe for use. The Koprivnica-Križevci County Institute of Public Health conducted additional testing after the school's plumbing installations were flushed.
One tap remains closed due to a slightly elevated lead level. Officials plan to perform further flushing of the installations before re-testing that specific tap. The City of Koprivnica clarified that the issue stems from the school's internal plumbing rather than the municipal water supply.
Koprivnica Mayor Mišel Jakšić stated that the affected taps were immediately sealed upon receiving the initial results and that parents and teachers were informed. The school continues to monitor the situation in cooperation with health authorities, noting that the majority of the school's 84 taps and 13 showers remain safe and available for use.
