Brachycephalic cats face chronic health risks due to anatomy

Brachycephalic cats, such as Persian and Himalayan breeds, face significant health challenges due to their skull and snout structure. This anatomical condition, often driven by artificial selection, leads to brachycephalic syndrome.

Key complications include stenotic nares (narrowed nostrils), an elongated soft palate that can obstruct the throat, and tracheal hypoplasia. These issues can cause chronic respiratory difficulties and ocular complications, requiring specialized care and awareness from owners to maintain the animal's quality of life.
