Bracknell resident finds snake in toilet

David Claridge, a 79-year-old resident of Bracknell, England, discovered a black-and-yellow grass snake approximately 90 centimeters long inside his toilet. The man noticed the reptile peering from the bowl after lifting the lid.

Claridge believes the snake entered the home through the drainage system in search of water during a recent period of high temperatures. To avoid direct contact, he used barbecue tongs to remove the snake from the toilet and relocate it to his garden, where it eventually disappeared into the grass.

A neighbor initially suspected the snake might be a missing pet python, but it was confirmed to be a harmless grass snake. Claridge expressed hope that his actions prevented the snake from dying while trapped in the plumbing.
