Brad Bird releases Ray Gunn animated film

Brad Bird, a former Pixar architect, has released Ray Gunn, an inventive animated film described as a blend of retro-futurist sci-fi and classic film noir. Set in the art deco, steampunk-inspired city of Metropia, the story features a society where humans and aliens coexist amidst corruption and segregation.

The film follows Raymond Gunn, an old-fashioned private investigator voiced by Sam Rockwell, who relies on traditional methods like stakeouts rather than advanced technology. He is accompanied by his alien assistant, Eye Ra Kadock (also known as Eyera), voiced by Tom Waits. The plot is set in motion when Gunn is hired regarding the suspicious activities of pop superstar Venus Nova, voiced by Scarlett Johansson, who is suspected of involvement in her husband's potential murder.
