Brad Marchand faces uncertain start to season after surgery
Florida Panthers forward Brad Marchand may miss the start of the 2026-27 NHL season following offseason surgery. The 38-year-old veteran underwent the procedure to address hip and sports hernia injuries.
Marchand confirmed the surgery via Instagram, noting that he had attempted to manage the issues without an operation but was ultimately forced to undergo the procedure last minute. As a result, he will be unable to participate in a charity game for former teammate Zdeno Chara in Slovakia.
Reports suggest Marchand could be sidelined for two or more months. The injury news comes as the Panthers prepare for their regular season opener on September 29 against the Carolina Hurricanes.
