Brad Pitt and David Ayer clash over ‘Heart of the Beast’ edit
Actor and producer Brad Pitt and director David Ayer reportedly engaged in a creative dispute regarding the final edit of the survival film ‘Heart of the Beast’. The disagreement centered on the film's tone, leading both parties to prepare separate versions of the movie.
According to reports, Ayer’s more extensive version performed better in test screenings, while Pitt’s more ‘stylistic’ version gained the support of producers Damien Chazelle and Olivia Hamilton. To resolve the conflict, Paramount executives Dana Goldberg and Josh Greenstein extended the post-production period to facilitate a compromise.
The final theatrical version is described as being built upon Ayer’s edit but incorporating several of Pitt’s creative choices. This incident follows a pattern for Pitt, who has previously had creative disagreements during the editing processes of ‘World War Z’ and ‘Ad Astra’.
