Brad Pitt and Edward Berger to lead World War Z sequel

Paramount Pictures has officially moved forward with a sequel to the 2013 film ‘World War Z’. Brad Pitt is confirmed to return in his original role, and Edward Berger, known for ‘All Quiet on the Western Front’, has been signed to direct.

The project has been in development for over a decade, following various delays and previous attempts involving different directors. The new direction follows a successful collaboration between Pitt and Berger on the film ‘The Riders’. The sequel will feature a script by Tony-winning writer Dennis Kelly and is being prioritized under Paramount’s new leadership.

The original film, based on the novel by Max Brooks, grossed over $540 million worldwide, making it the highest-grossing zombie film to date.
