Brad Pitt stars in survival drama Heart of the Beast

Brad Pitt stars in the new survival drama ‘Heart of the Beast’, directed by David Ayer. The film follows James Belmont, a retired Special Forces officer, and his combat dog, Odin, who must survive the harsh Alaskan wilderness after a plane crash.

Early reception has been highly positive, with the film earning an A- CinemaScore and high ratings on Rotten Tomatoes. Critics have particularly noted the emotional bond between Pitt and the dog, played by a German Shepherd named Uber. While some reviews suggest the canine performance occasionally overshadows Pitt, the film is praised for its intense physicality and emotional depth.

During the film's presentation at the San Sebastian International Film Festival, Pitt discussed the physically demanding nature of the shoot, which involved glaciers, mountainsides, and underwater work. He also noted that the story is ultimately a moving love story between man and animal. Although set in Alaska, much of the production was filmed on the South Island of New Zealand.
