Heart of the Beast earns $50.1 million in global opening weekend

Brad Pitt's new survival thriller, ‘Heart of the Beast’, directed by David Ayer, is seeing strong commercial and critical success. The film earned approximately $50.1 million globally during its opening weekend, including $20 million in the United States and Canada, and $30.1 million in international markets, led by France and the United Kingdom.

The narrative follows James Belmont, a retired Special Forces officer, and his combat dog, Odin, as they struggle to survive in the Alaskan wilderness following a plane crash. The film has received high audience scores on Rotten Tomatoes, reaching 96%, and a solid 88% from critics. Much of the production's acclaim centers on the emotional bond between the man and his dog, as well as the realistic portrayal of survival in extreme conditions.

Filming took place primarily in New Zealand to simulate the Alaskan landscape. Director David Ayer noted the challenges of the production, including the intense physical demands of working in harsh environments and the unique requirement of training the canine actor, Uber, to achieve a deep chemistry with Pitt.
