Bradley Barcola faces scrutiny following high-profile Liverpool move

Liverpool winger Bradley Barcola is facing scrutiny following his high-profile move from Paris Saint-Germain to replace Mohamed Salah. Despite a reported transfer fee potentially reaching £123 million ($165 million), the 24-year-old has yet to record a goal or an assist in his first five appearances for the club.

Football legend Alan Shearer has offered a positive outlook, describing Barcola as a player with “enormous talent” who possesses the ability to excite the crowd. Shearer noted that while Barcola needs to increase his goal output to become a “complete player,” his performances, such as his recent start against Fulham, have been impressive.

However, former Fiorentina player Giovanni Galli has challenged the value of the signing. Galli suggested that Barcola is not significantly better than Alieu Njie, a winger currently on loan at Fiorentina who was reportedly available for a much lower fee of £14 million. While Barcola has started recent Premier League and Champions League matches, manager Andoni Iraola has indicated that the Frenchman’s integration will improve with more playing time, noting he arrived without pre-season minutes.
