Bradley Beal addresses jersey number controversy and injury concerns

Bradley Beal has addressed controversy regarding his decision to wear number 3 for the Los Angeles Clippers this season. The choice drew criticism from some fans who viewed it as a lack of respect for franchise icon Chris Paul, who wore the number during his tenure in Los Angeles. Beal clarified that he and Paul are close friends and that his decision is not intended to diminish Paul’s legacy. Beal noted that he has worn number 3 throughout most of his career and only switched to number 0 last season after yielding the number to Paul out of respect.

Concerns regarding Beal’s availability have also emerged as he continues to manage inflammation in his right knee. This issue, which surfaced during training camp, is reportedly a complication from his previous hip surgery. Beal is currently performing individual player development work rather than full team practices. His injury history remains a point of scrutiny, as the 33-year-old shooting guard has struggled to play more than 53 games in a single season since 2021.
