Bradley Cooper to star in G. I. Joe reboot directed by Danny McBride
Paramount Pictures has officially cast Bradley Cooper to star as Duke in a complete reboot of the G. I. Joe franchise. The film will be directed by Danny McBride, who is also co-writing the screenplay alongside Jeff Fradley and John Carcieri.
This new iteration is designed as a total reimagining of the Hasbro property, moving away from previous continuity. As part of this strategic shift, Paramount has confirmed that the previously planned crossover film with the Transformers franchise is no longer in development.
McBride has indicated that the film will steer away from comedy to focus on a grounded tone of action and suspense. The plot is expected to involve the characters investigating the town of Springfield, which is secretly controlled by the enemy organization Cobra. While specific release dates have not been finalized, the project marks a significant attempt to revitalize the long-standing military brand for a new generation of viewers.
