Bradley Creek wildfire rescue: Cat named Lucky found on burned dock

A grey cat nicknamed ‘Lucky’ is recovering in foster care after being rescued from the Bradley Creek wildfire in British Columbia. Rescuer Andrew Erickson discovered the animal alone on a partially burned dock while surveying damage from a boat.

Lucky sustained burns to her paws, ears, and a patch above her eye, and her fur was heavily singed. After being rescued, the cat required medical treatment and was moved out of the area by a veterinarian. While efforts are underway to locate her owner, Erickson has expressed interest in adopting her if no one claims her.

The wildfire caused significant destruction in the community, with Okanagan Indian Band Chief Dan Wilson reporting that approximately 230 homes were destroyed. The Animal Lifeline Emergency Response Team (ALERT) noted that Lucky is among several animals displaced by the fire, with at least four cats currently seeking homes.
