Bragança launches initiative to revitalize Castle and Citadel

The municipality of Bragança is launching the ‘Viver as Muralhas’ program, an integrated strategy designed to revitalize the city’s Castle and Citadel. According to Mayor Isabel Ferreira, the initiative aims to add new dynamics to these key heritage and tourist sites by addressing several sectors, including mobility, public space, tourism reception, economic activity, and cultural programming.

A primary goal of the project is to encourage visitors to stay longer in the area and explore beyond the Castle, creating synergies between various cultural sites within the walls. The program seeks to link heritage with local commerce, dining, crafts, and regional products. Additionally, the municipality is prioritizing the reorganization of traffic and parking within the Citadel to improve accessibility and visitor experience.
