Brahmano Ka Guda villagers face high costs due to lack of amenities
Residents of Brahmano Ka Guda, a village located approximately four kilometers from Udaipur, Rajasthan, face significant economic and logistical challenges due to a lack of local amenities. Despite its proximity to the city, the village suffers from broken roads and a shortage of essential goods.
With only two small shops available, the village lacks a complete supply of rations and daily necessities. This forces residents to travel to Udaipur for basic supplies, incurring ‘invisible costs’ such as transportation fares, lost wages from missed workdays, and the time spent traveling. These additional expenses place a heavy burden on the monthly budgets of economically vulnerable families.
The lack of local infrastructure also disproportionately affects women, who often bear the responsibility of managing household supplies and children's needs, adding extra physical labor and travel time to their daily routines.
