Brahmastra 2 faces production hurdles as Jio Studios exits project

The upcoming film Brahmastra 2 is facing production challenges after Jio Studios reportedly withdrew from the project. Director Ayan Mukerji, through his company Starlight Pictures Private Limited, is currently seeking a new studio partner to finance the sequel.

Reports indicate that several major production houses, including Dharma Productions, have also stepped away from the collaboration. While Yash Raj Films was reportedly approached, they have opted not to associate with the project. The sequel is being planned on a large scale, with some reports estimating a production budget of approximately Rs 550 crore.

Cast members expected to return include Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, and potentially Deepika Padukone. Production is tentatively aimed to begin in April 2027, following the completion of Ranbir Kapoor’s other commitments. The project's progress remains dependent on securing a new investment partner.
