Braiden Wilson arrested in Argentina with record poppers seizure

Braiden John Wilson, a 27-year-old former high school valedictorian from Missouri, was arrested at Ezeiza International Airport in Buenos Aires for allegedly attempting to smuggle a massive quantity of the drug “poppers” into Argentina.

Customs officers seized approximately half a gallon of butyl nitrate contained in 55 vials, featuring brand names such as “Rush,” “Gold Rush,” and “Jungle Juice.” Sources indicate this may be the largest seizure of the substance by Argentine customs, as previous seizures typically involved only one to five vials.

Wilson, a 2017 graduate of Bismarck High School, told authorities he intended to use the substance socially and had no intention of smuggling or selling it. The chemical is illegal in Argentina and classified in the United States as a “hazardous inhalant” that cannot be sold for human consumption. In addition to the drugs, authorities confiscated five iPhones and $1,201 in cash. Wilson recently completed a probation agreement related to the charges.
