Braille Literacy Workshop Held in Villahermosa, Tabasco

The José María Pino Suárez Library in Villahermosa hosted a Basic Braille and Tactile Literacy workshop aimed at raising awareness of the barriers faced by people with visual impairments and promoting more inclusive spaces. The program offered participants—people with visual disabilities, family members, teachers, volunteers and the general public—hands‑on experience with Braille reading and writing, using adaptive technology and resources available in the library’s Braille room.

Organizers highlighted the importance of empathy and inclusion, with library staff Margarita Núñez Martín, Luz del Carmen Solís Sarabia and Braille room manager Luis Antonio Hernández Calzada explaining their motivation to help the community understand and support visually impaired individuals. Attendees included parents seeking to better support their children and educators from surrounding municipalities preparing to implement more inclusive teaching methods.
