BRAIN conference to be held at Circle Square Ranch in October
The Battle River Arts Innovation and Neuroscience (BRAIN) conference is scheduled to take place from October 23 to 25, 2026, in Paintearth County, Alberta. For its third year, the event will be held at Circle Square Ranch in Halkirk.
Organized with a focus on rural perspectives, the conference aims to address brain injury and recovery while distinguishing between brain health and mental health. Chairperson Jane Ross stated that the ultimate goal is to raise awareness regarding brain injury treatment and to eventually establish a world-class brain centre in rural Alberta.
The program includes educational sessions and arts-based activities. Featured speakers include farmer Jocelyn Wanekko, who will discuss stroke recovery, and Philippa Cranston, who will address the use of arts in inner healing. Other scheduled activities include a presentation by physician Dr. Jamie Marquart and visits to museums in Castor.
