BrainTrust Canada to host 40th anniversary conference in Kelowna
BrainTrust Canada will host its 40th anniversary conference, the Pushor Mitchell LLP West Kelowna Brain Injury Conference, on October 21 at the Metro Hub in Kelowna.
The event, themed “Beyond Treatment: Reimagining the Future of Brain Injury Care Through Community, Innovation and Collaboration,” aims to address the intersection of brain injury with healthcare, homelessness, mental health, substance use, and the justice system. The conference will host a diverse group of participants, including clinicians, researchers, policymakers, service providers, and individuals with lived experience.
Executive Director Amanda McFarlane noted that brain injury can impact memory, judgment, and emotional regulation, often leading to individuals being excluded from services when their symptoms are misinterpreted as non-compliance.
