Braith Anasta resigns as NRL player agent to focus on media career

Braith Anasta has voluntarily surrendered his accreditation as an NRL player agent to focus exclusively on his media career. Anasta, a host for Fox League and NRL 360, will step away from his role as general manager of Searoo Sports Management, handing his responsibilities to his business partner, Justin Caines.

The decision follows an NRL crackdown on potential conflicts of interest within the sport’s media landscape. As part of a new seven-year, $5.3 billion broadcast agreement, the NRL plans to implement more stringent quality assurance mechanisms and is expected to appoint a media watchdog to monitor personalities employed by broadcast partners such as Foxtel and Nine Entertainment.

Anasta’s move highlights the increasing scrutiny on high-profile figures who balance roles in sports management and broadcasting. Other prominent figures, including Phil Gould, Matthew Johns, and Gorden Tallis, also hold dual roles within the sport and its media coverage, facing potential oversight under the new regulations.
