President Murmu reshuffles governors across six Indian states
President Droupadi Murmu has announced a major gubernatorial reshuffle involving six Indian states, appointing four new governors and transferring two incumbents. The move highlights increased representation for Other Backward Classes (OBC) and Dalit communities.
New appointments include Sudha Yadav as Governor of Karnataka, Dhal Singh Bisen for Uttarakhand, Braj Mohan Ram for Odisha, and Dushyant Gautam for Sikkim. The reshuffle also involves transfers: Om Prakash Mathur moves from Sikkim to Kerala, and Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar moves from Kerala to serve as the full-time Governor of Tamil Nadu.
Braj Mohan Ram, a veteran BJP leader from Jharkhand, succeeds Dr. Hari Babu Kambhampati in Odisha. Kambhampati’s tenure was noted for environmental initiatives, including securing a Platinum Green Campus certification for Lok Bhavan. The new appointees bring diverse backgrounds in legislative affairs, party organization, and public service to their respective constitutional roles.
