Officials are currently exploring the use of automated school bus stop-arm cameras to detect and ticket drivers who illegally pass stopped buses. Drivers are reminded that failing to stop for a school bus with flashing red lights can result in fines ranging from $400 to $4,000 and potential jail time for repeat offenders.

In Brandon, 30 km/h school zones have been reinstated as of September 1. The Brandon Police Service has notified the public to slow down due to reports of high traffic congestion and near-misses during drop-off hours. Motorists driving 50 km/h in these zones may face fines exceeding $300.
