Bran Castle recognized as a top spooky travel destination

Bran Castle, a medieval fortress located in Romania near the Bran Pass, has been featured by Yahoo in a global list of top spooky travel experiences for the autumn season. The castle is famously associated with the legend of Dracula.

Historically, the stone structure dates back to the late 14th century. It was established following a 1377 decree by King Louis I of Hungary, which granted the Saxons of Kronstadt the right to build a fortress to guard the strategic passage between Transylvania and Wallachia. The site served as a customs and defense point, a border fortress, and an administrative center.

In the early 20th century, the castle transitioned from a military site to a royal residence when Queen Marie of Romania received it as a gift from the city of Brașov.
