Brandenberg forest road closed after truck accident and diesel spill
A 40-year-old Romanian truck driver caused a significant incident in the Tirol Unterland after a navigation system directed him onto a narrow forest road known as ‘Gang’. The driver was attempting to reach a delivery point in Achenkirch when the vehicle became stuck at a bridge between Brandenberg and Steinberg am Rofan.
The trailer became caught on a bridge railing, causing the fuel tank to rupture and resulting in the spill of approximately 200 liters of diesel. Following the initial impact, the driver uncoupled the trailer and continued his journey with the tractor unit alone before his freight company was notified of the situation.
Recovery efforts in the steep and rugged terrain were complicated by darkness, forcing crews to pause operations on Tuesday evening and resume on Wednesday morning. The forest road remains closed to all vehicle traffic while cleanup and recovery work continue.
