Brandenburg launches digital platform for social benefit applications

Brandenburg is launching a digital social platform to allow citizens to apply for essential social benefits online. The rollout begins in the Potsdam-Mittelmark district, with eleven other districts and independent cities, as well as the State Office for Social Affairs and Care, currently preparing for implementation.

The platform focuses on areas such as basic security (Grundsicherung), housing assistance (WBS), and subsistence aid. Social Minister René Wilke stated that the platform is a milestone for digitalization and a factor for social cohesion, aiming to make benefits accessible without bureaucratic hurdles. Digital Minister Benjamin Grimm added that the state government aims to offer all important administrative services online by 2029.

The platform was developed by the Ministry of Labor, Health and Social Affairs of North Rhine-Westphalia and is operated in cooperation with the Federal Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs. This follows the ‘Einer für Alle’ (One for All) principle to prevent redundant development across different federal states.
