Brandenburg regional trains halted by fox burrow

A fox dug a burrow beneath the railway line between Velten and Kremmen in Brandenburg, undermining a 30‑metre stretch of track. The damage forced the suspension of Regionalexpress RE6 and Regionalbahn RB55 services, with replacement buses operating until 28 May. Workers are excavating the affected embankment, compacting the soil and rebuilding the track. The disruption affects passengers traveling between Perleberg, Kremmen, Hennigsdorf and Velten, who must now transfer to buses for the affected segments.

The line had only recently been reopened after extensive renovation earlier in May, making the incident a notable setback for regional rail operations in the Prignitz and Oberhavel districts.
