Brandenburg signs action program to boost craft sector 2026‑2029

The state government of Brandenburg, the regional craft chambers and the German Trade Union Confederation (DGB) signed the Action Programme 2026‑2029 “Future of Craftsmanship in Brandenburg”. The agreement targets roughly 37,500 craft enterprises and almost 185,000 employees. It sets out measures to secure skilled‑labour pipelines, support the energy transition, promote business succession and start‑ups, and strengthen self‑governance within the sector.

Key initiatives include a bonus for successfully completed master examinations, a master‑founder premium, expanded inter‑company apprenticeship training, and a new statewide internship platform for students in grades 8 and 10. Officials highlighted the programme’s role in reducing bureaucracy and enhancing the attractiveness of craft jobs. "The craft sector is a guarantor of prosperity and skilled‑labour security in Brandenburg," said Minister‑President Dietmar Woidke. "The new programme provides a solid basis for cooperation with the state for the coming years," added Economic Minister Martina Klement.
