Brander Guevara severs ties with Cuban Baseball Federation

Cuban pitching prospect Brander Guevara has severed ties with the Cuban Baseball Federation to pursue an independent professional career. After completing a stint with the Conspiradores de Querétaro in the Mexican Baseball League, the 22-year-old pitcher from Artemisa has not returned to Cuba.

Guevara was considered a leading figure for Cuba’s pitching staff in the upcoming Under-23 World Cup in Nicaragua. His departure represents a significant loss for the national team's international prospects. While no official Major League Baseball agreements have been confirmed, there is speculation regarding his future professional steps, including potential involvement in the Mexican Pacific League.

During his time in the Mexican League, Guevara recorded a 1-1 record with a 7.41 ERA. Prior to his time abroad, he demonstrated strong performance in Cuba’s National Series with the Artemisa Hunters, recording 100 strikeouts and a 4.07 ERA over 79.2 innings.
