Brandevoort pharmacy to reopen early following staff shortages
The pharmacy in Brandevoort, located at De Plaetse, is scheduled to reopen on Monday, September 28, following a closure caused by severe staff shortages. The reopening comes nearly four months earlier than the original estimate, which had projected the facility would remain closed until the beginning of next year.
The closure, which began on August 10, was necessitated by multiple staff absences across the pharmacy group's Helmond locations. During the interim, pharmaceutical services were maintained through a medication pickup locker, while patients requiring personal service or specific medications were referred to a pharmacy in 't Hout.
The early reopening was made possible by the recruitment of several new employees and support from the healthcare company Lead Healthcare. Despite this resolution, industry experts note that pressure on pharmacy personnel remains high due to an aging workforce and a shortage of new pharmacy assistants entering the field.
