San Francisco 49ers coach Kyle Shanahan hinted the team will not keep Aiyuk beyond the upcoming season, and reports suggest a trade could involve Washington’s 2027 second‑round pick and a conditional 2028 third‑rounder in exchange for the veteran contract.

Former NFL safety Donte Whitner criticized Aiyuk’s public trade push, saying the player’s “ego” and refusal to work behind the scenes could jeopardize his career. Whitner told “The Jim Rome Show” that he believes Aiyuk may have already played his last NFL down, warning that disrespecting one organization can affect opportunities across the league.
