Brandon Clarke's family to receive $12.5 million contract payout

The family of deceased Memphis Grizzlies basketball player Brandon Clarke will receive $12.5 million remaining on his contract. The payout will be issued through life insurance, as his contract was fully protected in the event of his death.

Clarke, 29, passed away on May 11 following an accidental overdose involving a combination of heroin and cocaine. His agent, Mark Bartelstein, addressed previous reports suggesting the family might not receive the funds, labeling such claims as “misinformation.”

Clarke had signed a four-year, $50 million extension with the Grizzlies in October 2022. The $12.5 million in question was designated for the 2026-27 season. The Grizzlies organization expressed deep gratitude for the support shown to the family during this difficult time.
