Brandon Lowe sets Pirates home run record, expresses interest in extension

Pittsburgh Pirates second baseman Brandon Lowe has had a record-breaking debut season after being acquired from the Tampa Bay Rays. During a recent game against the Royals, Lowe hit his 33rd home run of the season, a go-ahead two-run blast in the eighth inning. This home run marked his 19th at PNC Park, breaking the previous single-season franchise record for home runs at that stadium set by Brian Giles in 2001.

Lowe is currently pursuing a career milestone of 100 RBIs, having reached 93 following his recent performance. Beyond his statistical achievements, Lowe expressed openness to discussing a contract extension with the Pirates, noting that he believes the organization has a bright future.
