Brandon Miller returns for Hornets amid extension rumors

Brandon Miller has returned to action for the Charlotte Hornets following a shin contusion. After missing the preseason opener, Miller recorded 18 points, four assists, and three rebounds in a 105-90 victory against Milwaukee. His return follows a previous shoulder surgery in May, and his availability is significant as he is eligible for a rookie-scale extension until October 19.

Despite Miller's return, the Hornets face ongoing injury concerns. Kon Knueppel is expected to miss the entire preseason due to a left hamstring injury, with the team planning to re-evaluate his status during the first week of the regular season.

Off the court, league insiders suggest Miller could be positioned for a major contract extension. Observers project a potential deal with the Hornets that could exceed the $200 million valuation recently seen in other high-ceiling rookie extensions. With LaMelo Ball now in Minnesota, Miller is considered a primary face of the Charlotte franchise alongside Knueppel.
