Brandon Miller signs record $209 million extension with Charlotte Hornets

Brandon Miller and the Charlotte Hornets have agreed to a five-year, $209 million contract extension, marking the largest deal in the franchise's history. The agreement was reached just before the NBA's rookie-scale extension deadline.

During a press conference at the Spectrum Center, Hornets President of Basketball Operations Jeff Peterson highlighted Miller's work ethic and determination as key factors in the decision. Head coach Charles Lee also praised Miller's personality and competitive mindset.

Following the signing, Miller expressed his primary goal of ending the team's 10-year playoff drought. The Hornets have not reached the postseason since the 2015-16 season and have not won a playoff series in 24 seasons. Miller noted that recent roster acquisitions, including Naz Reid, Grayson Allen, Royce O’Neal, and Dennis Schröder, are intended to help the team reach the playoffs.
