Fantasy author Brandon Sanderson announced on X that the first draft of the Mistborn movie screenplay is completed, marking a key milestone in Apple TV’s adaptation of his Cosmere universe. He timed the announcement to the 20th anniversary of the original novel’s publication.

The Apple TV agreement, sealed in January, gives Sanderson unprecedented creative control, allowing him to write, produce and approve the film and a concurrent Stormlight Archive TV series. A producer has been attached to the Mistborn project, while a director has not yet been hired and the film has no set release date. Sanderson emphasized that the draft is an early step and further revisions are expected before the project moves forward.
