Brandon Sanderson reflects on The Wheel of Time cancellation

Author Brandon Sanderson has reflected on the cancellation of Amazon's ‘The Wheel of Time’ series, describing the abrupt end as a “tragedy.” Prime Video cancelled the adaptation in May 2025 after three seasons.

Sanderson expressed frustration regarding how the cancellation was communicated, noting he learned of the decision through news reports after two months of silence from the production. While he praised the hard work of the cast and crew, he also maintained reservations about creative departures from Robert Jordan’s original novels. He specifically highlighted Rosamund Pike’s performance as Moiraine as being particularly difficult to replace.
