Brandon Sherrod honored with ‘Rosa d’argento’ in Roseto

The municipality of Roseto has awarded former basketball player Brandon Sherrod the ‘Rosa d’argento’ (Silver Rose) to honor his deep connection with the local community. Sherrod, who played two seasons for the Sharks Roseto in Serie A2 (2016/2017 and 2018/2019), is currently an assistant coach at Yale University.

The recognition celebrates not only his athletic contributions but also his cultural impact through the ‘Italian Journey’ project. This initiative involved recording music with local musicians, with proceeds directed toward schools and youth activities. During the ceremony, Sherrod performed an a cappella rendition of ‘You’re Beautiful’.

Sherrod’s career includes significant achievements at Yale, where he was part of the First Team All-Ivy and set an NCAA record for consecutive successful field goals. The award highlights his ability to integrate into the local culture, a quality described by local officials as ‘rosetanità’.
