Brandon Staley refutes Troy Aikman's criticism after Saints loss

New Orleans Saints defensive coordinator Brandon Staley has refuted criticism from ESPN analyst Troy Aikman following the team's 45-24 loss to the Atlanta Falcons. During the Monday Night Football broadcast, Aikman stated that Staley ‘simply doesn't have any answers’ regarding the defense, suggesting the coordinator was aware of defensive limitations due to personnel shortages.

Staley dismissed the comments as ‘not true,’ noting that while he takes responsibility for the defensive calls, the Saints' unit has historically performed well against Falcons running back Bijan Robinson. Staley pointed to previous matchups where the Saints successfully limited Robinson's production.

The Saints' defense struggled during the game, surrendering 205 rushing yards and five rushing touchdowns while playing without key players including linebacker Kaden Elliss and edge rushers Carl Granderson and Anfernee Jennings.
