Brandon woman sentenced to jail for assault and theft

A 30-year-old woman, Madison Engelbretson, has been sentenced to 42 days in jail and ordered to pay $700 in fines following a series of offences in Brandon. Engelbretson pleaded guilty in provincial court to three counts of assault, theft under $5,000, and taking a vehicle without owner consent.

The offences occurred between February and August of this year. Defense representatives noted that Engelbretson was experiencing unemployment, financial instability, and significant methamphetamine use during the period of the crimes.
