Brandon Woodruff nears return to Brewers roster for World Series

Milwaukee Brewers pitcher Brandon Woodruff is positioned to join the team's World Series roster following a successful recovery from a shoulder injury. After experiencing issues on July 4 that initially suggested a second major surgery on his right anterior capsule might be necessary, follow-up medical imaging in August revealed his shoulder was healing faster than anticipated.

As a result, surgery was avoided, allowing Woodruff to begin a strict five-week throwing progression. Having recently completed a high-intensity 31-pitch bullpen session, Woodruff expressed confidence in his return, stating, “it’s gonna be hard to keep me off that roster.”

Before his injury, the 33-year-old veteran was highly effective, posting a 2.98 ERA and a 0.84 WHIP across nine outings this season. His potential inclusion on the postseason roster is supported by his career statistics and the Brewers' current pitching depth, as the team has carried unused pitchers through recent playoff games.
