Brandy Norwood to sing theme song for Netflix ‘A Different World’ reboot

Grammy-winning singer Brandy Norwood has been revealed as the vocalist for the new theme song of the Netflix reboot of ‘A Different World’. The modernized track features an 808 drum and synth-driven sound while retaining the original lyrics.

Norwood, a longtime fan of the original 1987 sitcom, expressed that singing the iconic theme means everything to her. She follows in the musical footsteps of previous performers such as Aretha Franklin, Phoebe Snow, and Boyz II Men.

The upcoming sequel series will focus on a new generation of students at the fictional Hillman College, led by Deborah Wayne, the daughter of original characters Dwayne Wayne and Whitley Gilbert. The production includes returning original cast members Jasmine Guy, Kadeem Hardison, and Cree Summer.
