Lidl store in Kladno destroyed by massive overnight fire
A massive fire destroyed a Lidl supermarket in Kladno, Czech Republic, on Americká Street. The blaze broke out shortly after midnight and affected the entire building structure.
Firefighters responded with dozens of units, including aerial equipment and drones, eventually bringing the flames under control by approximately 2:30 a.m. During the incident, 53 people were evacuated from a nearby hostel to an emergency bus, though they were later permitted to return to their accommodation. No injuries have been reported.
Preliminary damage is estimated at approximately 120 million CZK. Heavy machinery is currently on-site to dismantle damaged structures and clear the area. Investigators from the Fire Rescue Service and specialists from the Technical Institute of Fire Protection are working to determine the cause of the fire.
