Branislav Becík to run for re-election as Nitra regional governor

Branislav Becík, the chairman of the Nitra Self-Governing Region (NSK), has announced his intention to run for re-election in the upcoming regional elections this autumn. Becík stated that his decision is driven by a desire to continue the work initiated during his previous four-year term.

Highlighting his administration's achievements, Becík pointed to significant investments in infrastructure, noting the repair of 334 kilometers of second and third-class regional roads and the reconstruction of 108 bridges. He also emphasized the region's affordable public transport, which he claims is the cheapest in Slovakia, allowing seniors to travel any route for just 30 cents.

His candidacy is supported by several political entities, including HLAS – sociálna demokracia, Smer, SNS, Republika, Právo na Pravdu, and Bratia Slovenska, as well as various independent candidates. Beyond transport, Becík noted that his administration has focused on improving social services and healthcare to ensure a dignified life for seniors.
