Branislav Nušić travelogue on Lake Ohrid released in Macedonian

The travelogue ‘By the Shores of Lake Ohrid’ by Branislav Nušić has been released in a new Macedonian edition by Matica Makedonska. Translated by Ivan Antonoski directly from the original 1894 publication, the book provides a detailed historical account of Ohrid, Struga, and surrounding lakeside settlements from the late 19th century.

Beyond describing natural landscapes and landmarks, Nušić’s work documents the daily lives, customs, occupations, and local legends of the people living near the lake. The text includes significant observations on fishing and local folklore, offering a historical comparison between the region's past and its modern appearance. This edition also features illustrations from the original 1894 release, serving as a visual record of the era.
