Branko Azeski attends Miners' Day celebrations in Debar
Branko Azeski, President of the Economic Chamber of Macedonia, attended celebrations for Miners' Day in Debar on August 28. During the event, Azeski extended congratulations to employees, companies, and academic institutions within the mining sector.
The mining industry remains a vital component of the Macedonian economy. In 2025, the country produced 130,174 tons of copper, lead, and zinc concentrate. The sector accounted for 10.9 percent of industrial production and 2.8 percent of total Macedonian exports.
Minister of Energy, Mining, and Mineral Resources Sanjia Bozhinovska emphasized that future development must be based on clear regulations, strengthened institutional oversight, increased safety, and modern technologies to ensure benefits for local communities and the environment. The sector is guided by the national Strategy for Mineral Resources to provide long-term development direction.
In addition to the professional commemorations, Azeski participated in diplomatic activities in Debar, including a visit to the Saint Jovan Bigorski Monastery, where he presented an artwork to the monastery.
