Ivica Dačić holds major SPS rally in Belgrade amid political shifts
Ivica Dačić, leader of the Socialist Party of Serbia (SPS), held a major pre-election rally at the Belgrade Arena, drawing approximately 20,000 supporters. Dačić positioned the SPS as a ‘factor of stability’ and a necessary force for national interest, claiming the party remains an indestructible bulwark against political shifts. He also signaled his intention to run for president, stating that his victory would be comprehensive if voters support his list in the upcoming parliamentary elections.
During his speech, Dačić addressed sensitive regional issues, asserting that there is ‘no Serbia without Kosovo and Metohija’ and expressing support for Republika Srpska. He criticized the ‘Student List’ as a deception and emphasized the party’s commitment to social justice and traditional values.
In a separate political development, former SPS Vice President Branko Ružić, who was expelled from the party, announced he is forming a new political organization. Ružić stated that the registration process for his new party will begin in November. He emphasized that his goal is not to reconstruct the SPS but to offer a new vision for the future of Serbian society, aiming to challenge the current political establishment led by Aleksandar Vučić.
