Brașov advances preparations for FOTE 2027 Olympic festival
Preparations for the 2027 European Youth Olympic Festival (FOTE) in Brașov are progressing according to schedule, according to representatives from the European Olympic Committees (EOC). The event, set to take place from February 14–21, 2027, is expected to host over 1,000 young athletes.
Organizers recently held a Mission Chiefs Seminar in Brașov to review progress reports and action plans. The seminar brought together delegates from across Europe, including representatives from the EOC and the Romanian Olympic and Sports Committee (COSR). Local officials, including Brașov Mayor George Scripcaru, emphasized the importance of collaboration between local administration, the Romanian government, and international sporting bodies.
A key aspect of the planning involves sustainability, with organizers opting to utilize existing sports infrastructure. Several facilities included in the current plans previously hosted competitions during the 2013 FOTE edition. Upcoming activities include inspection visits to sports bases and accommodation sites in host locations such as Brașov, Predeal, Râșnov, Cheile Grădiștei, Sfântu Gheorghe, Târgu Secuiesc, and Covasna.
