Brașov begins construction organization for new infectious disease hospital

Construction organization has commenced for the new Pneumophthisiology and Infectious Diseases Hospital in Brașov, Romania. This project marks the first public hospital to be built in the city since 1989.

Mayor George Scripcaru announced that the current phase involves preparing technological roads, provisional structures, and utility connections. Following the finalization of the technical project in the coming weeks, actual building construction is expected to take a maximum of 22 months.

The project is supported by a non-reimbursable funding contract of 578 million lei. The new facility is designed around the principle of 'healing architecture,' utilizing natural materials, warm finishes, and bright, open spaces such as 'light courts' to enhance patient psychological recovery.

The four-story hospital will feature 279 beds, including 257 for continuous hospitalization (with 15 intensive care beds) and 22 for day hospitalization. The facility will include specialized services such as functional exploration, bronchoscopy, a sleep laboratory, medical imaging, and a dedicated floor for children featuring play areas.
